Togbe recognizes that development should not be the responsibility of the government alone. He also recognizes the need for Ghana to tap available international resources, including expertise, to enhance her development.
Togbe led a twenty-two-member team including businessmen and Asogli State officials to China. The group spent two weeks traveling to Beijing, Shanghai, Yiwu, Hong Kong, and Shenzhen with the goal of attracting investments to Ghana and learning how China has made progress in the area of agriculture, estate development, energy, ICT, etc. We must emulate the hard work of the people and government of China, says Togbe Aede XIV after his first trip to China in September 2005.
It was during his second trip to China in August 2006 that Togbe established contacts with Shenzhen Energy Group Co. Ltd. to assess the possibility of the company establishing a power plant in Ghana.
In November 2006, Togbe hosted a delegation from China, representing China Africa Business Council and the Shenzhen Energy Group Co. Ltd. During the visit Togbe brought together Chinese government officials and Ghanaian energy and business experts, as well as representatives of the Ministries Works and Housing and Energy to discuss ways of investing in and improving Ghana's energy sectors.
In May 2007, Togbe secured a deal for the injection of 560 megawatts of energy into Ghana's supply system. This project is valued at more than $500 million and is located at Kpone.
This will be the first major private thermal plant in Ghana, the second biggest source of electricity after the Akosombo Dam, and the first major initiative of a traditional ruler. It is expected to address energy needs and prevent any future crisis resulting from low levels of water in the Volta Lake.
On April 17, 2008, Sunon Asogli Power (Ghana) Limited performed the sod-cutting ceremony to start the commencement of phase one of the project. Phase one is scheduled to be completed in December 2008, adding 200 megawatts of power into the national grid. The construction phase of the project is expected to provide about 1,000 jobs for Ghanaians. The second phase of 360 megawatts will be completed and put in to commercial operation in 2009.
Sunon Asogli Power (Ghana) Limited is a joint venture between Shenzhen Energy Group Company Limited of China China Africa Development Fund.

The Paramount Chief and the Agbogbomefia of the Asogli State, Togbe Afede XIV has attributed the prevalent hike in the prices of petroleum products in the country to the rapid depreciation of Ghana cedi.Togbe Afede XIV Addressed the leadership of feuding parties of Ho Zongo community.
In a meeting with the leadership of the feuding parties in Ho, Togbe Afede XIV on 12th March, 2022 reminded them that failure to resolve conflict is leadership failure, the result of dishonesty, selfishness or both.
